About Counselling
Counselling can offer you the time and space, in a
safe and confidential environment, for you to explore what is going on for
you. The support and input offered can help you to view your life,
relationships and experiences more clearly and to perhaps gain a different
perspective. Working together with a qualified counsellor can help you make
sense of what is going on for you and to come to your own decisions about
the best way forward.
It's easy to find a counsellor but we are all different and it is important
for you to find someone that you feel comfortable with and that you feel you
can trust. You will need a therapist who will help you to develop the
resources that you need to meet your own challenges and to find your own
solutions to the issues that you bring.
I will work alongside you, helping you to explore your situation, to look at
some of the things that may be causing your difficulties more clearly and to
consider ways of creating an environment where change can occur.
Counselling may be long term or short term, depending on your needs. Long
term or open-ended counselling normally continues on a regular basis until
you reach a stage where you feel ready to work towards ending therapy. Short
term or time-limited therapy may be appropriate where a specific issue is to
be addressed. This would be arranged over a specified number of sessions,
which we will discuss at the start of our time together.
